Welcome to The Poplar Pooch, a blog for all things dog-friendly in East London and beyond.
I got my first dog, Jeff, in Autumn 2019, around a year after I'd moved to Poplar. Being relatively new to the local area, I often relied on word of mouth from fellow dog-owning friends in London. This meant I was frequently travelling across the city for things like dog training, grooming and supplies, when in fact I had a plethora of wonderful services right on my doorstep.
With lockdowns in 2020 Jeff and I not only had the time to explore the area more, but even more importantly, we were able to meet other local dogs and their owners and truly become part of the community. So, while the pandemic has been a largely negative experience for many, in this way, it's been a life changing, positive experience for both Jeff and I.
With life beginning to return to normal, I wanted to create a source for all the local expertise, so that future pooches and their owners don’t need to start from scratch like we did.
